Poggio Terra, Barbera, Piemonte, Italy

This 91-point Barbera from Piedmont's Monferrato region delivers exceptional value in a liter format. The 2021 vintage offers classic aromas of sour cherry, violet, and a touch of earth. Medium-bodied with bright acidity and soft tannins, the palate features flavors of red plum, licorice, and a pleasant bitter almond note on the finish. Aged 12 months in large Slavonian oak casks, it develops texture without overwhelming oak influence. The liter bottle makes it perfect for casual gatherings, pairing wonderfully with pizza, pasta dishes, or charcuterie boards. A wine that proves quality and quantity aren't mutually exclusive.
