Elia Colombard, Cotes de Gascogne, France
Naturally low in alcohol, this zippy, crowd-pleasing white is crafted from one of SW France's lesser-known varieties: Colombard. While more often seen in blends, this grape is the likely offspring of Chenin Blanc and delivers plenty of aromatic stone fruit and crisp green apple all on its own. Adding to the fresh style are cooler expositions, an early harvest, and constant breezes from the nearby Pyrenees and Atlantic. With an ABV of just 9%, Elia is the perfect companion to a light-hearted luncheon or picnic at the beach!Best Best Buy - WE WINEMAKER BIOGRAPHY With the majestic Pyrénées towering in the distance, the Plaimont Cooperative of SW France sits tucked some 50 miles from both snow-capped mountain and Atlantic sea. Over the past few decades, they have single-handedly revived a host of historic grape varieties - from Manseng Noir to Arrufiac - putting their region back on the enological map and making them one of France's most exciting "new" producers.Naturally low in alcohol, this zippy, crowd-pleasing white is crafted from one of SW France's lesser-known varieties: Colombard. Domaine Gueneau Rose of Pinot Noir, Sancerre, France
Elisa Gueneau's very limited production rosé is a standout in Sancerre for the way it so clearly reflects both the terroir and the more delicate qualities of pinot noir. Rose petal, strawberry, and citrus aromas carry over to the soft palate, enhanced by a nervy zip and a crack of chalky soil on their way to a notably long finish redolent of red fruit and sweet flowers. Drink within the next 3 years by itself or with light fare.Elisa Gueneau's very limited production rosé is a standout in Sancerre for the way it so clearly reflects both the terroir and the more delicate qualities of pinot noir. See Saw Wines Riesling/Marsanne Pet Nat, Orange, Australia
Both Riesling (15th February) and Marsanne (1st March) were harvested in the early morning. Whole berry pressed to stainless steel for natural, cool fermentation. The ferment was stopped at the point of sugar and acid in perfect harmony – around 10g/L residual sugar present. The wine was then bottled under crown seal to continue its fermentation. An ever evolving wine, this Pet Nat has yeast lees, which provide complexity and flavour. The wine is bright and juicy with lots of Riesling zesty notes and texture from the Marsanne. Best served chilled as an aperitif.BBoth Riesling (15th February) and Marsanne (1st March) were harvested in the early morning. Whole berry pressed to stainless steel for natural, cool fermentation. Union Sacre Sangiovese Central Coast, California
Winemaker Notes: This is truly a summer red perfect for a slight chill on a hot summer day. On the nose, the wine offers a range of fruity and floral scents, including raspberry, cherry, and violets, with a hint of spice. The mouth feel is medium-bodied, with soft tannins and refreshing acidity that balance the fruit-forward flavors. Dry but jammy, juicy, soft and bright as a result of the cabronic maceration. Chill this down and have it with a pizza or anything off the grill. Adult Hawaiian Punch!!Winemaker Notes: This is truly a summer red perfect for a slight chill on a hot summer day.
